I create jewellery when inspiration comes over me. Each piece become unique. It’s the material itself that ”talks” to me. My inspiration comes first hand from wanting to show how beautiful stones, pearls and precious metals can appear individually or combined that is my driving force.

In the ending phase of my process of creating, a fictive person often appears in my mind that I imaging would wear the piece. It often becomes a similar person who falls for the jewelry later.

About Jenny Ohlström

I was born right into this business 1976. My parents were entrepreneurs in the stone and jewellery business. In 1973 they opened as pioneers the first rockshop in Sweden.

Precious stones and minerals have always been a natural choice for me.

As a child I used to spend my time at Geoart in Tysta Marigången. I sat in the backroom and made my own jewellery mixing most stuff I could find. It became fancy creations such as stones and crystals mixed up with screws, nuts, clips and packagematerial. I was in heaven.

My own boutique, The Mine of Gems I opened in the fall of 1995, the same year as I graduated. I had been studying nature sciences, and my favourite subject was chemistry. It was particularly the bindings of the molecules that fascinated me most, and the natural reactions that occur between different materials.

1998 I left for USA to study gemology (the science of precious stones).

Through this education a new world opened for me. The knowledge brought me a crystal clear course for my continueing development of design.

2000 I started my own trademark JOD, Jenny Ohlström Design.
